Vincents' Artist visited an exhibition of New Zealand artist, Robin White, Something is Happening Here, at the Te Papa Museum. The following week I ran a Robin White inspired workshop where we created this collaborative art piece. In a view looking across a table and chair, out the front window of Vincents', artists were asked to contribute an object that either represented themselves at Vincents', or something that represented our unique community. 11 artists worked on this collaboration.

A mirror sits on the table, reflecting the sun mosaic that hangs on the wall, just out of sight. The sun mosaic is a collaboration from several years ago.

The watering can has been around longer than any of us can remember. It has nurtured many plants, just have we have nurtured creativity. The cactus is a testament to longevity, sitting in a brightly coloured pot, with one of Van Gogh’s sunflowers.

A well-used paint palette and a jar of brushes speak for themselves.

A carefully designed pattern adorns the chair. The variety of tea and coffee cups represent the unique community found at Vincents.

A large plant sits in front of a geometric boarder, a cheeky little bird, sits on the edge of the plant pot.

Both the bird and the people boarder represent the wonderful variety in our community of Artists.

In the summer, when the doors are open there are a great variety of birds that wander in, have a look around, and sometimes cause a bit of excitement, just like the many visitors who stop in just to see what it’s all about.

The iconic Vincents tabletops, with their layers and layers of paint, from years of creative endeavours, and the colourful banner, greet all who venture through the doors.

Vincents Man stands ready with their paintbrush. The hanging plant represents the pottery room, it was created by an artist that has spent many productive hours in the pottery room.
